Rallies

Moggill Pony Club holds a rally on the fourth Sunday of every month, except for December and January.

Our rallies cover all disciplines for developing riders including:

  • dressage and combined training

  • showjumping and jumping equitation

  • one-day event (dressage, showjumping and cross country)

  • gymkhana and sporting

  • mounted games

  • campdraft

  • horsemanship and certificate work

Rallies generally kick off with set-up at 7.15am ahead of gear check at 7.45am, with coaching starting at 8.00am. In the winter months these times move back by an hour.  Riders will then move through four to five activities, with breaks for morning tea and lunch, before wrapping up by 2.00pm.

Over the course of a year, our rallies also feature a series of guest instructors and speakers to provide our members with access to the broadest range of expertise.  Examples include interactive instruction on horse and pony nutrition, saddle fitting and gear selection, and equine dentistry.

Points are awarded during the year for presentation and rally attendance.  At the end of the year, we hold an awards presentation and break-up event.  Trophies presented include achievement and encouragement awards, highest points for the different disciplines at outside events, horse and rider combination, the “True Grit” award, Pony Clubber of the Year and other perpetual trophies. Details of trophy criteria can be found on our HUB page.

Events

Throughout the year PCQ-affiliated pony clubs, including Moggill, run various official and unofficial competitive events.  Any PCQ members may compete at these events provided they have attended at least three of their own club's rallies in the past 12 months.

Locally, Moggill Pony Club riders join our friends at Brookfield to participate in the Anzac Day service at Brookfield Showground on 25 April and then again in May for a sporting challenge at the annual Brookfield Show.

Riders are required to provide a completed Horse Health declaration at all events.

All participants at PCQ-affiliated events must comply with PCQ equipment and dress rules regarding saddlery, helmets, boots, spurs and other gear.

‘Come and Try’ days

Our first rally each year, includes a rider assessment by our experienced instructors who allocate each rider to the instruction group that best suits their skills and experience level.  During the year, we’re more than happy to provide other opportunities to ‘come and try’ pony club on request.

Moggill Pony Club is starting an adult riders group for riding and associate members of the Club. The group will meet monthly for riding and/or instruction. Each member will be rostered to take an active role in organising a monthly event. To register your interest, contact the Club Secretary.
